Sydney and Abigail are looking more alike at times and showing different personalities at other times. The top picture is after the girls first 'play date' with James Bilbo--what a lucky guy--haha. Rebekah and the girls met Tressa and James at the greenway near our house and had a nice walk. I included the second picture because they looked so much alike at that time. I'd like to share more, maybe later, the girls are calling...

Sydney and Abigail like to lounge in their Boppys and hang out with their dad...

The girls are growing and developing and seem to be getting easier to care for--less spitting up and sleeping well. Sleeping well most of the time; Sydney did not want to go back to sleep after the 2:30 am Monday morning feeding, so Sydney and Dad had some good time together. Her eyes were wide open and she just wanted to play. Both of the girls have progressed in their recognition of us over the past week; Rebekah can be holding one of the girls and if I walk through the room, she will look at me and follow me across the room until she finds something else more interesting to look at.

It has been nice having Rebekah's Grandma Dee in town from Hastings, Nebraska for the past week. She has been a great help around the house--cooking, cleaning, and most importantly holding. I joked this weekend that it seems Grandma has a baby in her arms most waking hours. She has really enjoyed to spend some time with them. I'll try to post a picture of Grandma with the girls later.

The house was eerily quiet tonight for supper--Sydney and Abigail were sleeping off the pain medication administered before the ever traumatic first round of immunization shots today at the pediatrician. Usually we hold one or both girls and eat with the other hand, but Abigail stayed asleep in her carseat after coming home from the doctor--a record breaking seven hours between feedings because of the doctor's office trauma--and Sydney cried herself to sleep and slept through the early evening.

I say that the shots were bad, but the clean out of one of Abigail's ears was the most difficult to watch. I held her arms down, a nurse held her head in position, and Dr. Mallard cleaned the wax out to see how her ears are developing. Abigail screamed enough to create bumps from broken blood vessels on her head and face--they kind of look like little blood blister/pimples--Dr. Mallard did not seem to be worried. She screamed louder than we have ever heard. I found out that the nurse holding her down, Susan, was actually my pediatric nurse for a time when I was a kid--small world. Dr. Mallard said that both of the girls had beautiful ears--medically speaking.

Drumroll please...Sydney now weighs 10 lbs. 13 ozs. and Abigail weighs 11 lbs. 5 ozs. This is almost five pounds gained since the August 5th weigh in...this is more than average but good. Maybe they are catching up with the other kids their age.

The Runcie Grandparents and Aunt Miranda were in town over the weekend. We had a nice time hangin' out, catching up, and letting the grandparents see the newly forming personalities of our girls. We also took the girls on their first true 'event' on Saturday--the 18th Annual Greek Festival--which is just a good excuse to eat baklava and gyros. The traditional dancing is fun to watch, as well.

Don't worry about us too much this next week because Rebekah's Grandma Dee will be in town to help out with the girls. She raised four rowdy boys, so I think she has the credentials to take on the task. As always, thanks for checking in on the Glisson family every once in a while...

Thanks to professional photographer Ann Wade for a different point of view...

Picture perfect? Not exactly--it takes quite a bit of effort to dress the girls up and go anywhere; much less church. Yesterday was the girls first church experience, and they mostly behaved. Abigail "tinkled" through her diaper and on to her Mama in the middle of church, but Mama's pants were dry by the Elders Closing. Sydney slept through service and Abigail squirmed a bit. Can you believe that we were out of bed at 5 am to make church by 10? This picture is after church at Papa Jim and Kiki's house. My mom still has not "picked" her grandma name--how does Kiki sound? I'm impartial.

Good thing that we had the long weekend to recover--Mama and Daddy just woke from a nice midday nap...
